In More Detail…
Let us take you back to World War II and the 1940’s. Your students will learn all about the role Britain played in helping to bring World War II to an end. They will learn about how food became scarce and so we had to start rationing. They will learn how the government crafted clever adverts to encourage us to do things. such as signing up for the war effort and growing our own vegetables.
We bring with us a telegraph device, similar to the ones that were used to send coded messages during the war. The students will have a chance to crack and create their own codes using our special challenge – ‘The Great British Code Off!’.
The students will get to experience what it may have felt like to be evacuated to the country, living with a foreign family and not knowing when you will be return. They will learn that it was not necessarily the fun holiday that some people make it out to have been.
Finally, we bring in a selection of artefacts to really give the students a sense of what life was like back in the 1940’s. These include oil lamps, replica bomb devices and clothing.
