In More Detail…

Greek influence is still around today. Their myths and legends have shaped our modern world – companies adopt their logos and objects in space have taken their names. Zeus will teach your children all about the ways of the ancient Greek people. They will learn about the Gods and who was the most important.

One of the biggest influences we have from Greek times is some of the inventions that they have given us. These can still be found in use in combine harvesters, on bedside tables and in chocolate fountains.

Our workshop delves into the history of the Athenian Games (now known as the Olympics). The children will find out about its origins and how it has evolved to the current specatcle it is today. They can take part in our very own mini olympics and may even get the chance to create a new event to try out. Do you know what the punishment was for cheating?

We explore the myths of Greece and how they helped them live and understand the world around them. Using Theseus and the Minotaur as a case study, we re-enact the story and follow this up with a discussion. Why did Theseus leave Ariadne on the island? Was it the right thing to do? They will get the chance to rewrite the end of this story. What else could Theseus have done?

Group Size

Up to 90 children (3 classes) can take part in a full days workshop. For large groups we will need to split the day up slightly.

A big hall is ideal for large groups. However quite often we can fit into one or more classrooms dependent on the group size.
