COVID-19 GUIDELINES

IMPORTANT NOTE

If your venue has stricter guidelines than what is outlined in this document, they automatically supersede ours where appropriate. If you have any questions regarding the contents of this policy, please email us directly. Alternatively, you can try to call us on 07894 866 432.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR OUR STAFF

INTRODUCTION

This COVID-19 policy has been created to combat the current situation of Covid-19. We have followed the latest government guidelines. These guidelines will be updated and changed where relevant and appropriate as and when significant changes to guidelines are issued by the government.

STAFF PROTECTION

All facilitators who deliver workshops on our behalf have read and signed to say they agree to abide by the contents of this document. They have been briefed on the severity of the situation and know the appropriate steps to take on our behalf in certain situations.

STAFF SICKNESS

If one of our facilitators presents any individual or combinations of the following symptoms, they are to notify us immediately.

  A new dry cough
Any high temperature (over 37.7 degrees, as ratified by the NHS)
  Tiredness
Loss of taste or sense of smell
Any high temperature in the previous seven days
  General flu-like symptoms

These symptoms above are part of the official NHS guidelines on how to identify a potential COVID-19 infection.

If a facilitator contacts us with any of the above symptoms, the facilitator will be asked to self-isolate for fourteen days. During this period, we ask the facilitator to go and get tested as soon as possible to confirm whether or not they have COVID-19.

IF THE TEST COMES BACK POSITIVE

If the test comes back positive, we will follow the appropriate track and trace protocols, as laid out by the government. Any venues that the facilitator is due to visit that may be affected, will be contacted and (where possible) offered an alternative facilitator or a new date for their workshop.

IF THE TEST COMES BACK NEGATIVE

If the test comes back negative, and the facilitator feels back to normal, they will be able to resume any upcoming bookings.

Please be reassured that we will endeavour to make sure our staff and our customers are safe. We will try our best to minimise any disruption to your bookings where possible.

GUIDELINES FOR OUR STAFF AT YOUR VENUE

Our facilitator(s) will effectively become part of your bubbles for the day whilst they are at your site. Where possible, they will only be around the students and staff that they are to be directly working with.

Please let our facilitator know if there are any specific guidelines to be followed in your venue that are not covered on this page. This can include (but is not limited to) –

What social distancing measures are in place generally?
What restrictions there are to toilet facilities?
What restrictions are in place for staff room access?
What restrictions are in place for spaces we can use for the workshop?

FACE COVERINGS

If you wish our facilitators to wear a face covering at your school, they will arrive with a face mask and a clear visor option. We will not wear these unless asked to do so as they can detract from the wow-factor of our workshops.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

Where possible, our facilitators will maintain a distance of at least 1m (ideally 2m). If we ask for volunteers to help us out with parts of our workshops and performances, we will try to keep a minimum of 1m distance away from any participants.

Our facilitators will also only visit necessary parts of your site. This can include (but is not limited to) –

The room(s) where the workshop(s) or performance(s) will be held
The staff room (or room where hot water/microwaves can be accessed)
  Toilet/changing facilities

SANITISING

Our facilitators have all been given a bottle of antibacterial spray. This will be used to sanitise –

Any costumes that have been worn by participants during the session(s)
Any of our props that are safe to have sanitiser spray on them without risk of degradation.
Any laminated handouts that are used in the session(s).

SANITSATION NOTE

Some of our artefacts are unable to be sanitised due to their delicate nature. For most of our workshops this should not cause an issue are they are not handled.

For some workshops, we loan our artefacts out for sketching in class. If you wish to use them, we have some suggestions of how this may be possible.

OPTION 1 – Your facilitator can place them in the room on the desk, so they do not need to be touched until the end of the session. The facilitator can then come and remove the objects. This may require extra time to be put aside.

OPTION 2 – The teacher takes charge of the artefacts and places them in the room on the desks, so they do not need to be touched until the end of the session. The teacher can then return the artefacts to the facilitator at the end of the session or the next appropriate time during the day.

WORKING WITH MULTIPLE CLASSES

Some of our workshops are delivered to two or three classes in the same venue. If these classes are in the same bubble, the normal guidelines as outlined above will apply unless we are told otherwise.

Where classes are not bubbling together, we have made some suggestions as to how certain activities may be undertaken.

GROUP LEARNING (GENERAL)

For some of our workshops, to get the most out of the day, we tend to start the day with all the participants in one group. If this is still possible, we advise a large room (such as a hall or gymnasium). Where possible, windows should be opened to allow for plenty of ventilation. We would also advise that the students are sat in class “areas” in the room. These could be marked out with tape so the students can clearly see where they need to be.

GROUP LEARNING (VOLUNTEERING)

If we require volunteers when we are working with multiple classes at the same time, we will ask the volunteers to stay within the designated zone for their class or group. The facilitator will try to keep a minimum distance of 1m away from the participants.

DRAMA SESSIONS

Where students are working in groups during our drama sessions, they are usually given a selection of our props to help bring their scenes to life. Where possible, we will try to make sure props are kept within the individual groups and not shared around. If we are running multiple sessions, after the first session we will ask the groups to leave their props and any other materials they have been handling in the area that their group has been assigned for the activity. We will sanitise, where possible, as many of these props before the start of the next session. This should minimise any risk of germs being passed along.

WORKING IN THE SAME VENUE FOR MULTIPLE DAYS

WORKING WITH MULTIPLE CLASSES

Some of our bookings will take us to a venue for several days. If the days contain different workshops, we will follow the standard guidelines as laid out earlier in the document. If the days contain the same workshop, we have some suggestions of extra precautions we can take to minimise the transmission of germs.

These are mainly to enable us to allow the students to use some of our artefacts and pieces of costume that are more difficult to sanitise (e.g. our feather headdresses in the Maya workshop).

If we are working with four classes over two days. We suggest that you ask for permission to bubble the classes in pairs over the two days. For example:

DAY 1

CLASS A

CLASS B

DAY 2

CLASS A

CLASS B

In the above illustration, each day the two classes are referred to as CLASS A and CLASS B. We will try, where possible, to ensure that –

CLASS A on both days only handle the same objects.

CLASS B on both days will only handle the same objects.

FINAL NOTE:

The guidelines on this page are the basic rules we are following. You are welcome to use any of our recommendations when planning your workshop(s) or performance(s) with us.

If you have any queries or feedback for us on this document, please direct this to us via email.

We hope we have given you the reassurance that we all are looking for in these strange times. We are so looking forward to helping you bring your curriculum’s to life once again.
