In More Detail…
To begin with, Florence will tell you and the students all about her life, starting with her education and desire to do something after hearing a ‘call from God’. One of her biggest achievements was her introduction of hygiene measures during the Crimean War. Florence will also explain how, using her statistics, she was able to sort out infection control in the barracks during the Crimean War.
Florence brings with her a medical kit and the students will get a chance to practice different bandaging techniques on each other.
Students will all get a chance to prepare and make their own bar of soap with our special soap-making kit. They will also design posters and make the packaging for the product to take home with them at the end of the session. If there’s time, we’ll also get your students to look at life as a Victorian child. They will come up with some adverts to encourage the viewers to use good washing habits.
Why not book our workshop and let us take you deep into the world of Florence Nightingale – The Lady of the Lamp!
